After 12 years of service in the Royal Marines, our Founder – Andrew Holme,
fulfilled a long-term ambition by starting a second career within the superyacht industry.
While serving as a Deckhand/CPO on a 70m+ yacht, Andrew quickly recognised the value of crew who bring advanced qualifications, diverse skill sets, respect for rank, and the discipline required for long-term overseas service.
These qualities are second nature to former military personnel, particularly Royal Navy and Royal Marines, whose maritime experience aligns seamlessly with the demands of the superyacht industry.
This insight drove Andrew to raise awareness on both sides:
- helping yachts understand the advantages of employing veterans
- and showing service leavers that the superyacht industry offers a viable, rewarding career path.
Andrew launched Insignia Crew in 2017.
We are trusted by some of the world’s finest superyachts and UHNW private estates and family offices.
We place exceptional professionals across both sea and land – from Captains and senior officers through to engineers, deck, interior, and purser teams, as well as senior household, family office, security, and chauffeur roles.
